Ed Grossi Owner

Eddie and family have been in Marin and Sonoma Counties for a few generations, farming the home ranch and tending to his 50 acre parcel which includes the nursery and vineyards. Possessing an encyclopedic memory, mechanical aptitude, and friendly nature, Eddie enjoys working with people from all walks of life. Sweet Lane was built from scratch, beginning in the year 2000; for brokering, growing, and delivering plants for projects throughout the Bay Area. He is currently assigned to special projects geared toward whatever is at the top of the list, meaning, he is fixing whatever just broke, or is working on yet another creative endeavor.

Brendan Dellerba comes to Sweet Lane with years of nursery experience in Sonoma County, Southern California and Las Vegas. He has a B.S. in Horticulture from Cal Poly and will be an integral part of the nursery. His background in nursery operations will make sure our customers are well taken care of and our plant inventory stays top notch. He is excited to be able to help continue Sweet Lane Nursery's reputation for excellence and carrying one of a kind specimen trees. Cesar is a Production Foreman, with years of continuous engagement with Sweet Lane Nursery. Cesar brings a sunny disposition and many seasons of valued experience to bear as he cares for our various specimens in production. As you may know, a nursery is basically a farm, with hundreds of different kinds of tasks to accomplish throughout the year. Cesar carries them out with ease, truly a jack-of-all-trades. With a very green thumb and mad forklift skills, Cesar makes it happen!

With over 35 years in the nursery and landscaping industry, Jim's experience in retail and wholesale nurseries extends from the north to the south end of the bay area. Jim knows plants like nobody’s business. His ability to recall the most granular plant data is remarkable, whether it be character, growth habit, culture, or something arcane and very interesting. Jim also knows our growers’ strengths and is adept at tapping the best source for each plant. To top it off, his effervescent and upbeat attitude is a joy to engage.

FAQ

What types of plant material do you sell?

We offer large specimen trees in 24" to 72" boxes, including a broad selection of Japanese maples. We also carry standard material such as screening shrubs in #15s, and ornamental and shade trees in 24" to 60" box.

Can anyone buy plants from Sweet Lane?

We provide plants to landscape professionals only. If the majority of your annual work is horticulturally or landscape related, you are welcome to source material from Sweet Lane. We are not open to the general public. Homeowners are welcome to tour the nursery when accompanied by their contractor, designer or architect.

Can Sweet Lane source all the plant material for my job?

Our focus here at Sweet Lane Nursery is to provide top-quality, large specimens to your job but we are happy to prepare quotes for any size material. Our deep knowledge of which growers provide the best plant materials allows us to gather from a variety of sources, supplying your project with the overall best quality possible.

Does Sweet Lane contract-grow for future projects?

At this time, Sweet Lane does not have the capacity for contract-grows.

May a customer pre-select plants, and, how long will you hold plant material?

We welcome customers who wish to purchase and reserve material for their projects. We are happy to hold paid material for up to 60 days. Cancellations may be subject to a re-stocking fee. Holds for periods of time longer than 60 days are subject to a 5% monthly maintenance fee. Please know, some material is not conducive to being held for long periods.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks and credit cards (Visa / MasterCard / American Express / Discover). Although not required, customers may apply for an account with Net 30 terms.
